1. Fake Sting Against Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya Teacher
In 2007, when Sudhir Chaudhary was the CEO of Live India media website. The channel conducted a sting operation on Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya teacher, Uma Khurana, calling her a pimp for forcing students into prostitution. As a result, she was beaten by mob & sent into judicial custody thereafter. Then, Uma Khurana filed a case against the media. However, it was then settled outside the court and the case was withdrawn later.
2. Blackmailing Charges & Arrest
In November 2012, Congress MP and businessman, Naveen Jindal filed a complaint against two journalists who tried to extort Rs. 100 Crore worth of advertisements from the Jindal group in exchange for showing stories that linked the group with the 2012 Coalgate scam. Under that Sudhir Chaudhary & his colleague, Sameer Ahluwalia were arrested & sent to Tihar jail for 14-day judicial custody. However, they came out on bail. Then, in July 2016 Supreme court ordered both the journalists to provide voice samples to the investigating agencies for further investigation. Later on, in July 2018, the Jindal group wrote a letter to the investigation agency requesting to close the case & withdraw allegations against the journalists.
3. Allegations Against Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra
Sudhir accused Mahua Moitra of plagiarising speech of Truman Longman pointing out early signs of fascism in India. However, Longman and Moitra both had denied of plagiarising the speech. After this, Mahua Moitra filed a criminal defamation case against Sudhir Chaudhary which later on solved when he showed regret on his prime show & accepted that only a part of Moitra’s speech was broadcast. Later on, Zee Media also filed a defamation case against her for calling it ‘chor’ and ‘paid’ news.
4. Dhulagarh Riot Coverage
In December 2016, a case was filed against Sudhir Chaudhary & Tanmay Mukherjee, Zee News West Bengal correspondent & cameraman for dhulagarh riot coverage. Both of them were booked under section 153A of IPC.
5. Accusations of Islamophobia
On 10 April 2020, sudhir said on his show DNA that the “Tablighi Jamaat betrayed the nation.”
In May 2020, Adv P Gavas (state joint secretary of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) of the CPI in Kerala) filed an FIR against Sudhir Chaudhary at Kozhikode Kasaba Police Station, Kerala for his show of 11 March 2020. In that show, sudhir discussed “types of jihads”.
