Sky is Pink: Movie review
The movie “Sky Is Pink” is based on an extremely sensitive and thrilling subject. The movie is based on a couple who are madly in love with each other, and are spanning 25 years of their life through the eyes of their teenage daughter ‘Aisha’ who is very cool, sassy, spunky but apart from all of this she is also suffering from a fatal disease.
She is born with a rare immune deficiency disorder.
Niren and Aditi and fell in love in Delhi. They bring Aisha as baby to Great Ormond Street hospital for a bone marrow transplant and settle in London. Here’s where the movie “Sky is Pink” actually starts with its story giving you few goosebumps. When a radio station for London’s south Asian community puts out an appeal to raise £120,000 for little Aisha’s operation and the donations roll in, a fiver here, a couple of quid there.

A quick flashback to Aisha’s teens when the family used to live back in India. By this time, Niren has made a lot of money through his fast-food industry buisness and Aisha (Zaira Wasim) is a fearless, funny young woman. But in Delhi she develops pulmonary fibrosis and must decide whether to go down the route of a lung transplant which may prolong her life by 10 years. Aisha is against the idea: “You think it will be easier to die at 28 than 18?”
The Sky Is Pink is a film that might appear boring to one and has created waste out of such an emotional subject. But there are occasional moments such as this one that shine with truth. The ending is unforgivably mawkish, though, and the running time of two-and-a-quarter hours is simply too long.
A Marathi movie formed on the similar content named “Shwaas”. The movie brings tears in your eyes and you live the cinema with a very heavy heart. Movie creates an amazing impact on you while the sky is pink just makes you yawn throughout its been played. The film focuses on petty issues instead of it’s main subject of how Aisha falls sick and what struggle her parents had to go through for the sake of keeping her alive.
The movie “Sky is Pink” is unconventionally boring, with bad dialogues, and a slow pace. Although, the acting skills possessed makes you cringe, the movie gets unbearable until last.
